9 curiosities about Dragon Ball Z
1. Manga
Dragon Ball manga began in in 1984 in the weekly magazine "Shonen Jump". Are 42 bound volumes and the first 16 correspond to the first TV series and the rest corresponds to "Dragon Ball Z". In Brazil, the comic came out between 2000 and 2003 in a different format from the original. In 2009, Conrad publisher decided to launch "Dragon Ball - Final Edition", but the collection was not completed because of differences with the Japanese publisher Shueisha. Since 2002 the series is republished by Panini and is currently in volume 37.
This is a marketing ploy to differentiate the TV series with the adult Goku, which has more focus on battles. The original was more focused on mood. In Japan, the letter "Z" is read as "Zetto" and means "definitive" because it is the last letter of the alphabet.
3. The original story is loosely inspired by "Journey to the West"
"Journey to the West" is an ancient Chinese story starring Son Goku, a magical monkey who wears a fighting stick. In the story of Akira Toriyama, Son Goku is a human from the planet Vegeta that has monkey's tail and uses a cane to fight, becoming a giant ape when you look at the full moon.
4. The first animated series Dragon Ball started in 1986 and had 153 episodes
Here in Brazil, the anime was first displayed on SBT, then spent the Globe and the Cartoon Network. "Dragon Ball Z" had 291 episodes between 1989 and 1996, and was exhibited at the Band and the globe.
5. "DBZ" was followed in 1996 by "Dragon Ball GT"
Dragon Ball GT was not part of the original manga and had little creative participation of Akira Toriyama. The name comes from "Gran Turismo" a motorsport category in this case used as a "great journey". The series ran for 64 episodes.
6. Apparently, "Dragon Ball Super" disregards "Dragon Ball GT"
It is as if the series had passed in an alternate universe, something that many fans already considered.
7. To conquer a new audience, Toei Animation in 2006 launched the "Dragon Ball Kai"
"Kai" means "review." The series, shown in Brazil by Cartoon Network, brought a condensed version and remastered in HD with new lines of "Dragon Ball Z".
8. Chichi, the wife of Goku and Gohan and Goten mother, a child appeared in the first series of the stage.
In the episode, the daughter of King Cleaver was wearing a helmet that mimicked the powers of Japanese superhero old 60s Ultraseven.
9. In Japan, the voice of Goku is made by voice actress Masako Nozawa, nearly 80 years
Nozawa voiced Goku in the child version and kept the paper to dub it in adulthood. She also lends her voice to Gohan and Goten, the children of the hero.
